The building design is inspired by the area's woodland character, with building structure and display elements taking the form of trees and tree limbs, and a transparent lobby that allows one to look to the outside to connect to nature from inside the building
The county is divided between the Woodland and the Open Prairies and Lakes regions. This area is also known as the Crosstimber region, named by early settlers who found belts of oak forest crossing trips of prairie grassland, impeding their travel to the east and west
Hopkins County is named for the family of David Hopkins, and early settler in the area
